Nearly thwarted

Just a quick email update from the road. Everything nearly got
cancelled when our truck's transmission went out on Sunday night.

We got the bad new at the transmission shop on Monday The earliest we
would have the truck back would be Friday.

My heart sank. Would the event I have been planning for for a year be
dead?

Fortunately the BO and friend (who I had wrangled into going) was able
to offer her truck!

So tonight we are sitting in a lovely home in cloudcroft, our horses
down the mountain in blankets, and tomorrow we ride thru golden Aspen
groves in the Lincoln national forest.

Thank goodness the transmission went out on Sunday. Can you imagine
what would have happened if it went out during this trip?

*shudder*

The good news is we ARE here, and Friday will be the first clinic day.

Take care and I hope to catch up with everybody next week

(NM bloggers, if you haven't heard from me toss me an email at
wprosapio at gmail dot com. Dinner is on for Friday!)

Cloudcroft is a really awesome place to be! When I was growing up in Roswell that one of my favorite places to go along with Ruidoso. Now I'm way up in the Northern part of the state near the 4 corners. This is another wonderful place to be with all the beautiful red rocks.

Yeah, much better to find out before you left than mid-trip. Now that would have been stressful. Have a wonderful time.

Awwww, that's terrible news on the truck. I'm glad you got here though.
Once, we were pulling horses with our Suburban and the engine caught on fire- transmission. My husband, quick thinker that he was, put out the fire as I was getting children and dogs out of the vehicle on a side road about 20 miles out of Las Vegas (New Mexico). Then, a very wonderful soul came along and actually rope-towed our 'Burb with horse trailer attached (with horses!) into a Vegas repair shop. Then, fortunately, my mom came down with her Durango and we unloaded the horses, rehitched the trailer, and drove on up to her house. That was a crazy, crazy trip!!!

Mechanical problems on the road are a nightmare. Thank heavens yours happened before you got started on the trip. We had an alternator go out on us last year, in the dark, on a curvy, hilly road. NOT GOOD!!!
