Finally we ride out on our own

Well, turned out Canyon didn't need shoes. So I'll have to get back to you with those pictures in a few weeks. Apparently his hooves are slowing down their growth with these natural balance shoes.

But we did have an adventure.

Ever since I discovered that Canyon had... an attitude problem*having ruled out saddles, back pain and other ailments) I have been reluctant to ride out on my own. But there aren't many people to ride with these days so I had to bite the bullet on Saturday.

And we rode. By ourselves

And made it back in one piece.

Here's a little video...

As big of an accomplishment as this is, it's getting pretty tough to find people to ride with - my old circle has scattered. So I guess I need to do the equivalent of cruising bars.

Play dates.

Sigh. I'm not competitive so I'm not crazy about the play date idea. But it's that or lonely rides for the duration.

Any suggestions?

It is so much fun to ride with other horse crazed women. Sigh.

I'm proud of both of you... and you did it on a windy day too. I know about the pain of finding others to ride with. I'm just going to hit up everyone who I meet up with on the trail who has a horse.

That video was hilarious! I can't stop laughing! I knew you could do it; I never had a doubt.

Nuzz - I'm just going to have to make more of an effort. You get spoiled at a stables.
Didn't he do well? I kept singing home on the range to him. I'm not sure it helped! lol

Rudy - That look on his face says it all. "okay. We're done. Right? We're done. Now. okay. how about now?"

Suggestions: Move to New Mexico..and as soon as I'm healed we can be riding buddies! :D

How far ARE you from me actually. I know you're in Texas, but what side?

That video totally rocked, girlfriend! I felt like I was on Canyon's back with you, which would be awesome! He has the prettiest ears and mane.

And were just riding with a halter or is that a type of bitless bridle? He certainly goes well in it.
I love my bitless bridle, though I may go back to a snaffle for a while when I get back to riding again.

I love that you sing to him to help calm him. I sing Jingle Bells to my mare, too. I think her favorite part is "One horse open-sleigh" hehe

Anyway, YOU DID IT! And so did Canyon! Together you guys are awesome!
