Better. Getting Better

Just a quick update: I rode both Lily and Smokey Saturday and Sunday and both did wonderfully. Smokey is coming around on his canter to the right, his canters to the left are solid. Did just the local trails with a friend at the barn on Sunday, and got Lily another five yards down the road past her comfort zone during a solo ride.

Keeping two horses ridden is wearing me out! But it certainly does seem to work wonders with everyone's attitude.

My next goal is to find us a job to do. Have a great week, everybody, and see you soon...

The best type of progress is slow progress . . .

That's great. Two horses are a lot to keep going but it's good for them. Have a great week.

Whoo, great news. Slow but steady progress is the way to go. You'll get there.

just wanted you to know that i'm jealous of you. training a young horse is something i am not sure i want to do, but taking on these challenges is something i need to do.

I've read some interesting posts recently about PVC-pole cavaletti, and how you can "make jobs" for horses in an arena (like asking them to touch an empty soda bottle on a post with their nose while riding, opening/closing gates, helping a rider empty/fill buckets out of a water trough, etc).

Just taking care of horses is enough to wear just about anyone out--and then you have to work/ride them, too! :)

Slowly slowly catchee monkee! As the old saying goes.
I have to start Sunny again, although she was saddled and backed 6 months ago, I now need to go back to her and build. So yes, I am taking it slow too!
